Tattoos, Blues and I Do’s . . . Christina and Alex’s wedding!

July 11, 2012 – “Unique, exotic, fun, colorful . . . all words to describe Christina and Alex’s wedding on May 19.  The theme for their wedding was orchids.  Alex carried the theme to a whole new level.  There are not many grooms that can steal the show from the bride, but Alex’s custom tux came close.  Beautiful white orchids were appliqued on the lapels, cuffs and back of his tux.  Alex looked very cool!!  But not to be outdone by the groom, Christina was wearing an incredible 50’s inspired dress by Betsy Barker, the owner and designer of Betsy Couture.  Christina looked amazing with her unique dress, bright yellow shoes, gorgeous headpiece and dazzling smile.  One of the highlights was seeing her on her hands and knees kneeling in the back of the car while traveling from the hotel to the wedding, so as not to squash the netting under her dress.  (Yes, we got a picture!)  Christina’s cute grandma was her maid of honor.  The wedding colors were unusual and beautiful.  Exotic orchids were everywhere – from the decor at their venue, Cactus and Tropicals, to the incredible bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces and wedding cake.  (I’m running out of adequate adjectives!!)  Alex’s one request, other than his cool tux, was he wanted coleslaw served in champagne glasses as one of the appetizers.  He got his wish!

Guests enjoyed live blues music thanks to Christina’s father who has a band in Sacramento.  They were fantastic!  (Is it O.K. for the photographers to dance at a wedding?  It is hard to keep still sometimes.)  The first dance was to Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel.  As the night progressed, Christina exchanged her yellow high heels for some more comfy black high top sneakers.  We loved seeing her dance with her grandma. Christina and Alex love their tattoos.  Their friends are equally proud of their ‘ink’.  We saw some pretty wicked tattoos.  One guest commented that he had never seen so many tattoos, Mormons and Mexicans all in one place – not very typical for Utah.   (Christina is Hispanic and he said it . . . not us.  It may not be politically correct, but hey, it’s pretty funny!)

Alex asked us on a scale of 1 to 10 how their wedding rated on a uniqueness scale.  We told him a 12.  We’ve since revised our score to a 100!  They are such a great couple.  We are so glad they chose us old married folks to be their wedding photographers.  It was truly a wedding to be remembered!!  Here are some of many highlights.”  Glade and Corinne
